Top 5 Quarantine Challenges
Staying inside, watching TV and eating snacks: it doesn’t sound too bad… until it’s enforced. We all know that social interaction is vital for our physical and mental health, which is why a compulsory lockdown can be challenging, particularly for those of us who live alone.
Fortunately for phones, the internet and platforms like Vibely, you can feel connected even when you’re physically distant. Challenges present a fun opportunity to get some friends together and have a little bit of healthy competition. Call your friends and hop online- here are our top 5 quarantine challenges to bring your friends together from afar:
#1. Five Minutes to Go
For this quarantine challenge, you’ll need to nominate a group leader. The leader will set a challenge for the group and everyone will have five minutes to complete the challenge. For example, “you have five minutes to prepare a dance routine to a pop song of your choice and show us on Zoom” or “you have five minutes to find and present the funniest item in your house.” The group leader decides the winner and the winner sets the next challenge.
#2. Where in the World
You’ll need a little bit of creativity for this quarantine challenge. Using only the items in your house, each person has to fashion a background that looks like a travel destination. Christmas lights could be the Eiffel Tower, a cocktail and beach towel could be Hawaii- up to you! The person who guesses the most destination correctly wins.
#3. Guess That Sound
Ask you friends to cover their eyes while you take it in turns producing an interesting sound. This might be scrunching foil, clapping with one hand or opening a can. Everyone must guess the mystery sound and points are awarded to correct guesses.
#4. Ready, Steady, Cook!
Take it in turns to select unusual items from each other’s fridges or pantries. When it gets to dinner time, players must make a meal using the unusual item that’s been selected by the group. This challenge is even better if everyone is cooking together over video chat and then shares (and tastes) their results in front of the group.
#5. Show Us Around
Ask your friends to prepare a Cribs-style tour of their home, ideally making it as funny as possible. This works best when everyone is watching live, using a platform like Zoom. To add an additional challenge to this game, have one of your friends impersonate a celebrity as they give the tour. Nothing beats the Queen showing you around a one-bedroom apartment!
Some people are naturally more extraverted than others, but it’s important to keep in contact with your friends and family, even if it's just to check in. If you find video chatting a little uncomfortable, maybe even awkward, then hopefully these challenges will make it easy to have fun with your favourite people from afar.
